Uber Partners with Nebius to Accelerate Autonomous Vehicle Expansion
Uber has forged a strategic alliance with Dutch cloud technology firm Nebius Group, committing up to $375 million in Avride, Nebius' autonomous vehicle subsidiary. The investment aims to scale Avride's driverless fleet to 500 vehicles, with Hyundai Ioniq 5 EVs slated for deployment in Dallas by late 2025 pending regulatory approvals.
The deal marks Uber's first external convertible note investment, signaling a deeper push into self-driving mobility. While the partnership accelerates international growth for Avride, it also introduces fresh challenges around infrastructure scaling and regulatory compliance in key markets.
